Seeing Red: Part 1

A couple of new designs.

I made both of these for a coworker who requested some red earrings. I've had these square beads for years and just couldn't figure out what to do with them (par for the course, right?). Well after the last bead show I attended,  I found these loverly square spacers. How perfect?!
These are a newer purchase and I LOVE them! I was on a mission to find more red beads and I had completed my mission....and then I saw these beauties. Well what was I to do? Buy them of course! ;)
So I got a few more red beads than I had planned, but I didn't regret it. I held off on making any earrings because I hadn't decided what to do with these. Did I put all the focus on the beads, did I try to find some smaller beads to compliment? Well obviously I decided to focus on the beads. 1) because they're a very odd shape and quite large, and 2) because they're a unique color. Not sure if you can see, but they're not quite red, not quite orange.
.............................Now that I'm looking at these, I will admit that they're kinda long and if I were to make them again, I'd probably use less chain (but some people like really long earrings).

More earrings to come soon and I will try very hard to get pics of my latest stitching endeavors! Two words: pooping unicorn....yeah, you're hooked now, right?
