Ok, do you guys remember the old days when I used twigs and branches for my earrings? Well now I've actually got an earring display. (It's like this is official or something!) I found them at my local bead shop completely by accident and I knew I had to get them! I'd like to get something in black or white, but for now I'm a happy camper.
I like that they aren't the same height. Well what do you guys think? I promise to continue the branches shots (I really like the nature vibe!) but on days when I need a quick pic of the earrings these puppies are perfect.
Ok, found these beads at Joann's and how could I not get them?! Of course, my mom requested the first pair.
As you can see in the second picture, I had to add a small bead at the bottom. The hole in the mushroom is quite large. That was probably the hardest part; trying to find a bead that worked but didn't overpower the mushroom.
I think these will sell quite well. What do you think?
Not the traditional pastel colors for Easter, but here are some earrings to celebrate today.
Here is a gorgeous bouquet my mom gave me. It brightens up my desk. :)
A shot of the top.
As promised, I did some planting this weekend. Here I planted some red flower--totally forgot the name. :) Zinnias and Cosmos. I don't know if you guys remember my pics of these flowers last year. They did splendidly and I had to have some more this year.
Oh, how I love Cosmos....it can rival my love of poppies.....almost.
Zinnias are gorgeous, but this year I will be keeping them in check. Last year I just let them grow and they practically took over the raised bed! So this year, sorry fleurs, but they shall be pruned and corralled.
Since it's Friday, let's celebrate with Swarovski.... T.G.I.S. :)
This was a multi-pack I purchased at a gem fair a while back. I love the multi-packs because, unless you're going to make something large (a.k.a. not earrings), you don't need very many beads of one color....also I love to have so many pretty colors....ahhhhhh
I can't remember what size these are...they're small, but most beads are. Sorry, I'll have to find out. I hope to have some new plants for a post this weekend. Have a great weekend everyone!
I'm sure I don't need to remind everyone that this year the weather has been.....extreme, odd...so in our neck of the woods, the blossoms were blossoming early and though I am not a fan of the weather that caused this, I did find the blossoms to be beautiful.
I figured that everyone could use a pick me up by Thursday (especially this week...did it seem super long to anyone else?) so here is some petally goodness to make your day blossom :)
Well, did it work? Is your day much improved by such simple beauty? I hope it is.
Well, I'm off to class so I'll wish you all a quick and happy Thursday!
Ok, here are those boxes I was talking about. I received these from my mom's co-worker who wanted to recycle them instead of just tossing them away. I have actually used these to give earrings as gifts.
I haven't actually used these yet because I do not make bracelets.....that's a time commitment that I am not ready for. Also I'm not a big bracelet gal. I have a watch and occasionally I still wear my Italian charm bracelet, but everything else gets in my way.
I also haven't used these (earrings are my forte, what can I say)
Ah, here are my little beauties. I have used these when I make special earrings.
Personally I love the idea of using these boxes as packaging. Not only do you get to present something very clean and professional looking, but it opens the door to ribbon! And who doesn't love ribbon?! Sadly, I am unable to use this packaging at the moment because it would require me to increase my prices. I know people like presentation, but they also like a good deal. One day though, I would love to just use boxes...and maybe organza bags...ok I'll never pick just one :)
More books! Finally!
Ok, here's a pic of my non-fiction book shelf. Yes I've organized my books by genre. As I've said, I LOVE organization. I used to organize strictly by author's last name, but I've changed things up a bit.
So here are my beauties.
I'll have to take some pictures of my tea time books (they're in the back). They're simply gorgeous. I'd also like to point out the Ikea books on the right hand side. Beloved Homes, Step in Step Out, Everyday Counts. All are WONDERFUL! There's a textile book that I'm wanting as well. I do have a nice, small cookbook collection, but as I do not cook very often I haven't tried that many recipes. The one cookbook I use regularly isn't even here; it's in the kitchen. Let me know if you're curious about any of these. I'll try to get a picture of the books in the back too.
I've been looking through my jewelry supplies (I like to organize and re-organize and then re-organize before I finally do anything...what can I say, I LOVE organization!) and I found these puppies.
My mom has had specialized stamps made for her stamping creations for years
and when I got into jewelry, she got me one (it made it really official and it made me feel all professional!). I picked this one out a few years ago and this was the emblem for my packaging. I still love it!
This one is the latest; it's got my blog address and everything! My older stamp was made before blogs - if you can remember such a time ;) This design is a lot cleaner, but I still like me a circle. There was less room for words because my blog address is quite long!
I just wanted to take a moment to say hi. I know it seems like I've disappeared, but I haven't.
I've been in a funky mood lately. I'd like to blame it on something or someone, but honestly it's just been me and procrastination. School has been seriously busy and though I've tried to be a diligent student, I haven't always succeeded. And then on top of that I (for some unknown reason) continue to fight going to bed (yes you'd think after I became an adult I wouldn't fight bedtime, but that's just me) so I'm tired most of the time and don't want to do much of anything.
This and other stuff has put me in a funk and I just haven't been interested in doing anything but zoning in front of the television. I've had many a serious talk about this and I've finally decided that I need to just turn the t.v. off and get up. So, today I went outside and watered our plants and took some photos. I've also decided to get back into crafting because I miss my creative outlet.
I promise this blog won't become a diary or a venting ground, but I just wanted to let you all know that I am still here and I will continue to post. Thanks for your continued patience.
