Simple Things

Hello all,
I was looking at old pictures and found this one from a trip to Disneyland. Who knew my love for poppies would remain so strong?

These flowers can always bring a smile to my face. I hope they can do the same for you.

Book Review: Layla and Majnun

Hello all!
Well, since I've announced that my blog will also include books, have there been any books? No. So here is a book.

Layla and Majnun. written by Nizami in the 12th Century. This was first published by Omega Publications Inc. in 1966 in New Lebanon, NY.
This is a sufi poem written by Nizami and is considered a romance.
I won't get into too much detail because 1) I'm not a critic or a reviewer and 2) It's better if you decide for yourself to read or not to read. :)
I will give it a rating, but first here is my rating guide:

  LOVE it!
           Really like it
                    Liked it/ It was ok
Did not like it/Could not finish it (yes I have not finished every book I started)

Ok, so my rating for Layla and Majnun:

Alright, well how was my first book review? Please feel free to give feedback. I'm sure I'll be tweaking this system in time. Thanks for visiting everyone!

Simple Things

Hello all.

How could you not love this face.

This is my baby, Iris. She is soooooo tired, but fighting sleep. Eventually she did fall asleep.
She made me laugh and sigh. I hope she can do the same for you.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Top o' the morning! :)
I wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very happy St. Patrick's day!
I've already got some earrings picked out for today! A day that supports GREEN! How could you not love that?!

For these I used small tiger's eye (I should start paying attention to the measurements) and some gold seed beads. Because the beads are so simple, I twisted the wire as a way to add another element.
I hope you all have a lovely day! Thanks for visiting!

Let's Talk Packaging: Part 1

Hello all!
Ok, let's get down to the less fun aspects of jewelry-making: Packaging.
When I first started making earrings to sell at craft fairs, I had to figure out how to package them. Luckily my mom has been stamping for a loooooooong time and she helped to create the design for my packaging (I'll show this a little later).
Today I'm sharing an easier albeit more expensive method of packaging.

Organza Bags

These bags are a very pretty packaging method. They come in so many different colors that you could match the bags to the earrings. You could also stay with simple white in order to really showcase the earrings. They are also widely available in craft stores (I got mine in a floral resources store of all places).
I only have a couple of complaints. They are more expensive than home-made packaging. Also, you would need an additional method for displaying your earrings because they would be too obscured in the bags.
Overall, as long as I could get a bulk or wholesale price, I like this packaging method. I'm not sure if it's my favorite though.

The next packaging method is boxes.
Thanks for visiting.

A New View on Life

Hello all!
First off, please keep in mind the post title; I'm quite proud of the wit. ;)
I am so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so EXCITED to share a new treat.
Ok, let's start at the beginning. I have been wanting to get my own camera (I currently share with my mom) and I wanted a new camera. I went shopping online and found my camera on Target's site. It was $200. I decided to be mature and slowly save up for this treat.
Well, let's just say that life made me go to plan B. Today my parents went to Target and found out that my camera was on clearance. My mom got one (she also wanted this model) and when I got home from school I ran back out to get it (with fingers metaphorically crossed the whole way). Luck and the universe were on my side because they had ONE camera left.
And now I would like to present to you my new, 3-inch screen camera. Let's all bask in it's glory!

What do you think? I'll be giving you guys some pictures taken with my new camera soon (I still need a memory card). Thanks for visiting!

Pretty Plums

Hello all
Finally some earrings!

As you can see, these are quite simple. The beads have a little dimension to them. I can't remember what kind of bead they are, sorry! I decided to use the lace-cup spacers on top and on bottom to add a little pizzazz. I also twisted to wire and then I finished it all off with simple fish hooks.
Thanks for visiting!

Simple Things

Hello all,

Over the weekend, it was raining quite hard, so I wanted to try and capture that on film.

Here is one of our birds. This made me grateful that I could go inside and have shelter from the weather......it also made me smile because I LOVE the rain.
I hope this can help you relax and take a deep breath as well.

A Change is Coming

Hello all!
How are you this fine morning? I am getting ready for a "Sherlock" marathon (yay Benedict and Martin!) with my mom and a friend. I hope you can do something fun today too!

Moving on to my original point. I will be making a few changes around here (yes again).
I don't know if you remember my little book spell around here...and here.......well I've decided to include one of my other loves: BOOKS!!!

I've wanted to share so many books with you all, but I haven't because this blog is called "Brianne's Baubles" not " Brianne's Books." So my mom actually came up with the solution; "Call it Brianne's Baubles and Books!"...........hey, that could work. I get to include one of my great pleasures and I get to continue the alliteration, win-win!

So, with that in mind, I would like to show you my books (they are not all here as I have nearly run out of room).
I'll work on getting close-ups of each cubicle (I wasn't working with the best lighting). I am looking into different storage ideas, because I have given away at least two bags of books and I'm still looking for more space. I'll share some of these with you when I find them.

I hope you all choose to stay with me throughout the new changes. I do promise to work harder at keeping up on my earring posts (I know I'm lame, lame). So, here's to a new page -get it ;)- in my blogging adventures! Thanks for visiting everyone!
