Bath and Body Works

Hello all!
My mom and I went on a wonderful shopping trip! For many reasons we love B&B Works (number 1 on my list: NO animal testing! YAY!) and they were having a fab sale so we drove on down and discovered some scrumptious new scents--seriously they'll make you hungry!
Here are my new treasures!

I highly recommend any of these scents! They also had a lemon and "Wild Mint" that my mom got and loves. I forgot to include it in the picture, but I also got a Blackberry candle. I just have it open and sitting next to my earrings. It's nice to smell it when I'm getting ready in the morning.
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again soon!

Silver and...well black

Hello all!
Here is a pair that I'm not too sure about. It took me FOREVER to do something with these silver square/diamond beads. As you can see, they're pretty big and long. I'm happy that I was able to use the silver beads but...I feel like these just aren't top notch. Oh well.

I don't know...I guess it depends on my mood. Right now I kind of like them, but tomorrow who knows!
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again soon!

Tiger's Eye Green

Hello all!
Here is a pair of trusty ole' Tiger's Eye. I call them trusty because they're a bead I turn to when I just can't think of any new designs. They're great because they're pretty, versatile, interesting looking and small enough to be paired with some nice spacers.
Here's one design that I've done.

They're nothing fancy, but I like 'em!
Thanks for visiting and hope to see you all soon!

Dirty Little Secret

Hello all!
Remember that gorgeous Ikea catalog? Well as promised, here are my old catalogs. I've been keeping these catalogs because they have really good design and organizational ideas (if you get the chance to go to an Ikea store and look at their room designs, take it. It's amazing how they use every nook and cranny of space!). A little while back I was purging my magazines (it's amazing how quickly they accumulate!) and I came to these puppies. I thought, "I don't need these. I can't even get everything in the catalogs now, anyways!" So with that in mind, I put them in the recycle pile. Well obviously I didn't get rid of them. I've decided that I'll allow myself to keep a few magazines while getting rid of the majority of them.
Ikea catalogs are definitely keepers!

Unfortunately I don't know how to get older catalogs. But don't despair, you can start your own collection today!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you all soon!

Mystery Bird

Hello all!
While I was taking pictures of my Ikea catalog I saw some commotion in the cherry tree and look who flew out to say hello...ok not to say hello, more like to fly away.

Does anyone know what kind of bird this is? I guess hawk, maybe falcon. Let's call it a Bird of Prey. Anyways, let me know if you have any guesses who.
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again soon!

Flame Flowers

Hello all!
Ok, well these aren't really flame flowers. I'd had these flowers for a while before I finally had an idea. Normally I don't like using gold hardware (I'm a sterling silver gal!) but these colors just begged for gold. I was happy to oblige. I was also verra verra happy to use my seed beads!

As you can see I tried an artsy shot in the last picture. It was very hard to bend my knees to get the camera under the earrings and remain absolutely still (I guess I could have put the earrings on a higher branch...), so I hope you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for visiting and I hope to see you soon!

A Little Asian Flare

Hello all!
Here is a pair of earrings that I absolutely love! I came up with this design by chance. As is usually the case, I just mess around with the beads until I find a design that I like. This bead was kind of tricky. Again, it's a pretty large bead so it has to be able to stand alone. I think I did a pretty good job.

So, what do you think about this pair?
Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you again soon!

See how he Grows

Hello all!
Today is a little reunion. Do you remember meeting our garden friends? Well here is an update for our Praying Mantis.

(This is our little guy a few weeks ago)

(Again older shot)
Obviously he's (she's) pretty happy. It's actually a nice little setup. He has food (lots of bugs live in our garden bed), water regularly and shade when the afternoon heats up. I'm just happy to give a little bit back to nature. If there are any other reunions I can arrange I will work to do so.

Thank you all for visiting. Hope to see you soon!

Black and White with a Dash of Pink

Hello all!
Here is another favorite pair of Swarovski earrings that I made for my she's got a lot of earrings... I was really into using solid colors and this pair reflects that.

I don't know if you can tell, but the top crystal is a very pale pink...I thought the pink petal would help to show the bead off, but it didn't quite work. The middle bead is white. This is the simpler version of crystal earrings that I make, but I think it works really well to show off the crystals themselves (it also means I don't have to cut as many headpin wires or twist as many jump rings...what can I say all that work hurts my fingers).
I hope you enjoyed your visit and I'll see you all again soon!

New Plants!

Hello all!
My dad and I went plant shopping this weekend. I love buying new plants; it's so exciting to look through the plants and then to go home with my little beauties.
My green thumbs are just itching to get planting.

This is called Plumbago. My dad and I both love blue flowers and this puppy can take drought and heat so it should be pretty hearty.

I'm pretty sure this is called Coleus.

I know I saw the name for this, but I forgot, sorry.

I have no idea what this is called, but it's really pretty. I grew it before but it didn't survive the frost, so this year I will definitely be prepared.

I'll show you how they look after I plant them. Here's to good planting and success; I've mostly had success with plants, but there have been some sad cases.
Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you again soon.

I Wish I Was a Cat

Hello all!
I've been watching my cats live their lives and I came to a conclusion: I wish I was a cat!
Let me explain myself through photos:
Iris sleeping under her blanket (thank you Ikea)

Lily sleeping on her blanket (again Ikea)

Bob sleeping on his towel, because the couch just isn't comfy enough

Lily gazing out, planning her next move: food or sleep

Iris, using me as a pillow and having one of many naps that day

The handsome Bob taking time out of his busy day to pose for the photo. Thank you Bob!

Note that they are all laying down and most often they are asleep. They have it good. Bob's biggest dilemma is which seat will he use: the chair, the cat tower, the ottoman, the couch, the futon...his day is so difficult. Well since I won't become a cat anytime soon, I better get back to reality, oh well!
Thanks for stopping by and hope you come back soon. Have a great day!

Swarovski Pretty

Hello all!
Here is a pair of earrings I made for my mom for her birthday.
I just love using Swarovski crystals and for whatever reason I was really into the solid crystals (the white one) and I love this color combination. It's so pretty and bright and it makes me smile.

This design is a simpler one compared to other crystal earrings I've made for her; she has since informed me that she likes the other design better...the other design is also a lot more work! I wonder if she knew that when she told me...
Thanks for stopping and I hope you enjoyed your visit. See you again soon and have a splendid day!

A New Catalog and a Little Thrill!

Hello all!
I got this in the mail today and I shouted with joy! You may not know this about me, but I must confess my true love for....IKEA!!!!!
Since my first visit to the store I have loved Ikea and I have done my best to get anyone I know to go and experience the wonder for themselves.
If you have never been to an Ikea store I highly recommend that you go; if not for the shopping and ideas, then go for the chocolate cake! That's right, Ikea has a cafeteria for your convenience (what a great store!)
Anyways, here is the cover for the new catalog.

I cannot wait to really get immersed in this year's catalog! Oh and just a little spoiler, they have doll furniture. It is beyond cute. You can request your free catalog from their website. You can also view their catalog online. Thank you for listening to me go on about Ikea. I hope you have enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again soon!
p.s. I'll work on a post to show you my catalog collection; it is truly beautiful!

Fancy Some Seed Beads?

Good Morning!
Here's something fun. These are made using only seed beads! When I first started making jewelry I bought a ton of seed beads because there were so many beautiful colors and I couldn't pick just a couple. Since then I have not used seed beads a lot...until I came up with this design.

These are just a few of the colors. I'll put the rest up later. I had fun making these and trying to find the perfect shot a midst the leaves . I hope you've enjoyed these as much as I have!
Thanks for stopping by. See you again soon!

Not for me, but for Mom

These aren't actually for me!

I got these beads at Michael's a few years ago and it took me forever to figure out how to use them. Everything I tried was too long and the beads themselves are so big I couldn't add to much to them. I'm pretty pleased with the result. This project helped me realize that I like the idea of working with large beads, but in reality they're kind of a pain in the butt!

Thanks for checking out my latest creation. Hope to see you again soon!

A Quick Hello

The Lovely Lily has something to say:

She hopes you have a Lovely Day!!!

Thanks for stopping by and we hope to see you again soon!
p.s. Iris, the little sister, would say hi if she wasn't asleep...
Oh and did I mention that Iris is the lump under the blanket.
